Learning to cook
One of the most fearful things in life is learning how to cook. If one has not learned certain recipes from their mother or in a home economics class in high school, starting out from scratch can be a daunting task. How does one start? What is a roux? What does one do if they burn the heck out of it?
There are fairly simple answers for all these concerns. One is to get a complete cookbook. What I mean by that is to find one that has not only appealing recipes that are simple to cook, but one that has a glossary of terms and a section of how-to’s. How To” means things like showing the proper way to cut vegetables or filet a piece of meat. It will also gives a sense of what basic seasonings and tools one should have in their pantry.
Another way to learn is with online cooking videos, such as at www.lifestyle.gourmandia.com. They are generally very simple recipes with a short list of ingredients and an even shorter video to accompany it. This should start a person on their way to learning how to cook quite successfully.
