Recipes Kids Can Make (with Little or No Help)

Recipes Kids Can Make (with Little or No Help)
admin 20 Comments Tags: easy recipes, fruit, guacamole, kids, meatballs, Mother's Day, pasta, potatoes, salad, scallops, Seafood

Mother’s Day is fast approaching – and no mom appreciates someone else doing the cooking than a mom with young children. Mother’s Day is also an excellent time get kids in the kitchen, developing cooking skills that will last a lifetime. But as anyone who’s cooked with kids knows, not every recipe is the best choice for little chefs. Look for recipes that don’t require a lot of time or patience. Like these:

* Bacon Wrapped Scallops are as easy as sprinkling some lemon juice over the scallops, wrapping a piece of bacon around them, then securing them with a toothpick.

* 10-Minute Guacamole couldn’t be much simpler, either. A few avocados, a little lime juice, a wee bit of sour cream and olive oil, some seasonings, and viola! It’s done.

* Bow Tie and Tuna Salad is another easy dish kids can prepare for Mom. Just use lots of supervision while boiling the pasta and adding the green beans to the pot during the last few minutes of cooking. Then all kids have to do is mix a few ingredients for the sauce and toss in some cherry tomatoes and tuna.

* Breakfast Banana Split is a dish even toddlers can make for Mom. Slice up some fresh fruits for the child (or let the child give it a try with a disposable, plastic serrated knife), then let the child layer them (along with granola and yogurt) in a sundae cup or bowl.

* Small children can also easily make an appetizer or snack for Mom. For example, fill a small cup with Ranch dip or hummus, then stick baby carrots into the dip to make a “garden” of carrots. Poke a hole on the top of each baby carrot (using a toothpick) and stick a sprig of parsley into it. To really complete the look, stick the plastic cup into a small herb pot.

* New Potato Crunchers are a side dish simple enough for young kids, who will love shaking a sealed container containing the potatoes, a little oil, and some seasonings.

* Baked potatoes are another good choice; kids will love coming up with toppings.

* Meatballs are fun for kindergarteners on up to make. Good choices include Turkey Meatballs, Sweet and Sour Meatballs, or Italian Meatballs.

My little sister really wants to learn how to cook, so I taught her some recipes that are very easy to make. And I think those recipes would be very helpful for her to enhance her skills… Those cookies are wonderful for her to learn and we can also make those for our mom on mother’s day. Thanks for the recipes!!

I really want to try all of those for mother’s day even if it’s meant for kids! I think those recipes would also be wonderful for us to make for our mom. I’m certain that those recipes are not only easy to do but definitely tasty! Looking forward to the surprise face of my mom! :D

I would like to do this with them and I am not surprising if my kids like doing this stuff! I am really glad if maybe they can try one of your simple recipes… :-) thanks for your post.

My little ones can really do this? I could thank you a hundred times if I was able to nourish their cooking skills with this. I could finally start them on this great hobby and, of course, we’d be having a new productive bonding as well. T hanks, thanks, and thanks in advance! Now I only have 97 more to go if in case. ^o^

My 6-year old kid will surely love to make some of this… We could have our cooking lessons at home and have fun together. It’s not just about teaching her kitchen works but bonding with her as well. I’m excited to start having fun with my daughter again, since I have been busy these past weeks.

These recipe suggestions are great! There are 5 kids in my house, 3 of which are my kids. My two nephews have learned to love the dishes I prepare for them for lunch and dinner, and I’m sure that all of them will enjoy making these easy meals anytime!

After reading this post, I’ve already come up with a 3-course meal for this weekend: bacon wrapped scallops, bow-tie pasta and tuna salad, and breakfast banana split for dessert. Of course, I’ll have to make a few tweaks for the dessert. Thanks for sharing this!

I will try out this with my kids.

Thanks for sharing it.

This breakfast banana split is so interesting I had to make one for myself. Instead of granola, I’m thinking of using rice crispies or corn flakes instead. To make it more fun, I’ll let the kids decide which fruits and which toppings to use. I hope they won’t suggest gummy worms or popping candy this time around!

Those recipes are easy but I think they still need parental supervisions specially on the handing with knives, but anyway there are plastic ones. Other than that, the recipe is just simply affordable!

I was reading this post a while ago with my daughter sitting on my lap. To my surprise, she said she wants to make guacamole. Now, I’m excited! Maybe it’ll be a good pair with the potato crunchers, don’t you think?

What a gracious article you provide! Now I’ve got an idea on how to celebrate Mother’s Day with my kids! This idea is something really distinctive to try, just like our usual way of celebrating Mother’s Day event (got no time to do the usual cooking, this somehow made everything easier)!

By teaching little kids to cook, you should have a lot of patience! Patience is very important when it comes to teaching. That’s why I really adore those teachers who have that. I find it real hard to explain some recipes to my younger brother before so I ended up ignoring him. But this time I will surely try this together with my kids!

Sometimes, it’s really hard to teach kids when it comes to cooking. You must have big patience when handling them. But after reading this blog, I think it would be nicer to teach them these recipes and that it sounds interesting. I’ll let my little son learn those cuisines. I hope he can now get it right.

An idea that will surely be an educational and fun for family! Aside from the fact that kids will learned a lot from these recipes, my mom and siblings will definitely bond happily and uniquely!

These are easy recipes that even kids can make without any adult supervision. Aside from that we teach them to develop their creative ability, the passion for food and the joy for cooking. When I got a child I want him/her to make one of these recipe for favors me a lot on this post. :)

My mom would be very glad to read this! My sister really wants to learn cooking but we can’t think of recipes that they can make easily. I would print it out and give it to my mom. Or maybe I can be the one who will teach her these recipes. Thanks!

Many kids right now are very good cooks. I admire them for that. I also want my kids to be like them. I’m starting to teach my 10 year old daughter to cook and she enjoys it. She even asked to search for more recipes for her. Maybe those would be perfect for her.

Watching your kids preparing something for you is one of the greatest feelings a mother could feel . At first, I can’t believe when I saw my kids on the kitchen and they don’t even want me to know what exactly they were doing. So, I let them do whatever they want only to found out that they were actually preparing something for me. Even though it doesn’t taste good, I still enjoy their cake!
