Perfect Lemonade – plus a few twists

Perfect Lemonade – plus a few twists
admin 21 Comments Tags: drinks, lemonade, lemons

As the weather warms, I find myself longing for cool drinks – including lemonade. And while lemonade might seem simple (it’s just lemon juice, sugar, and water, right?), finding right the right balance between sweet and tart isn’t that easy. And sometimes, I want a twist on traditional lemonade. If you’re like me, read on for some truly great lemonade recipes.

Perfect Lemonade

¾  cup sugar

1 cup + 4 cups water

1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 4 to 6 lemons)

Place sugar in a saucepan and add 1 cup water. Heat over medium and stir until the sugar dissolves. Pour the lemon juice into a pitcher. Add the sugar mixture and 4 cups water. Stir well and refrigerate until well chilled.

Strawberry Lemonade

Pour 1 cup of sugar into a saucepan. Add 1 cup water and a few orange slices; bring to a boil. Cook for 1 minute. Strain and chill.

Pour 1 basket of strawberries into a blender. Add 1 cup lemonade. Puree. Add another cup of lemonade and puree. Add the sugar/water mixture to taste. Chill.

Lavender Lemonade

Pour 1 cup sugar into a small saucepan. Add 1 cup of water and a few sprigs of lavender.  Bring to a boil; cook for 1 minute. Strain. Chill.

For every serving, pour 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice and 1 or 2 tablespoons of the lavender mixture into a tall glass. Stir. Fill with chilled water.

Ginger Lemonade
Pour 4 quarts of water, 3 cups sugar, and the ginger into a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Remove from the stove. Stir in 4 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice. Allow to sit at room temperature for 20 minutes, then strain and chill.

Lemonade Tea

In a pitcher, stir together 36 oz. lemonade and 3 quarts of iced tea.

Rhubarb-ade

Cut 8 stalks of rhubarb into 3 in. long pieces. Place in a large saucepan. Add 8 cups water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour. Strain. Add sugar to taste, stirring until dissolved. Chill before serving.

Raspberry Lemonade

In a blender, puree ¾ cup fresh raspberries. Strain with a fine sieve or through two layers of cheesecloth. Add 9 cups water, 2 cups freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 2 cups sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves. Chill.

True! I’m certain that most of us would really look for food and drinks that will help us beat these hot days. And those drinks really are interesting. I want to try Raspberry Lemonade. I’m sure it will taste good; really appropriate for summer!

Rhubarb-ade – seriously? I’m afraid this will not be as refreshing as raspberry or strawberry lemonade. I would really appreciate it if someone who’s tried this can share their recommendations. I just don’t want to waste my time in making this and be disappointed in the end.

I’ve tried different lemonade variations, but lavender lemonade is new to me. I hope my kids will enjoy the taste as much as they enjoy making lemonade. Thank you for these new lemonade recipes!

Raspberry lemonade is the best! Its color is so pretty, and it tastes naturally sweet! To those who haven’t tried it, I highly recommend it. It’s the perfect thirst quencher.:)

It is very interesting to have a twist in your drinks. Its funny! I didn’t even think of making those types of lemonades. It is a very nutritious drink and adding more fruits to it make it healthier. I would try making ginger lemonade first — it really sounds interesting. I hope it will taste good.

I love the uniqueness of these drinks! I’ve never made one of these (except the simple lemonade, of course.) I just tried Strawberry lemonade and I find it very good. My kids love it especially when the lemonade is really cool. I will try the others next time.

It is very exciting to have a twist in your drinks! As I was browsing the internet, I saw this post and I learned that there are some interesting procedures and instructions in creating drinks that can satisfy me. And I also consider the uniqueness of each twist with those beverages. I hope it will taste good when I prepare some of these! Thanks for posting!

Sounds pretty cheap for every day drink since this couldn’t make much. I’ve been wondering what to do with the old juicer I inherited. I am more interested in your Strawberry Lemonade, it sounds excited to me.

OK! Let’s just say this is totally weird! Lemonades that have a twist of fruits or herbs makes me wanna try it. But at the back of my head, there are lots of questions and more big doubts about making it or even about trying it.

when I first read this blog, I was pretty excited to make lavender lemonade. It is my first time to make lemonade made out of a flower. Good thing my mom has a lavender plant at home (sorry mom but your lavender plant will be on my lemonade. lol) this is pretty unique. I can’t wait to go home and make mine. :D . I wonder what it tastes like.
